Gospel Reading for March 17, 2025 – Luke 6: 36-38
FOCUS
Jesus said to his disciples: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”

If we really want to enjoy and make the most out of life, we need to FOCUS on things we can do with the gifts that are given to us. For example, if parents FOCUS on being good parents instead of focusing on what they want their children to become, the children will probably be what they should become sans the rebellious energy that often comes when parents put their children in a box. If at work, we FOCUS on giving our very best to the organization and not on the promotion we can get, we will probably get that promotion sans the useless intrigues and pettiness brought about by competition. If in church, we FOCUS on the mission of evangelization instead of focusing on condemnation of sinners, we will probably be successful in our mission sans committing the sin of being judgmental. Where we put our FOCUS is crucial to making the most out of our life.
“We reap what we sow” is an apt description of what our life is going to be. One very good thing about this is that our happiness and peace is not beyond our reach. As a matter of fact, it is there for the taking especially for us Christians, who have all the teachings of Christ. We just have to avail of them.
Be with us Lord, amidst life’s storms and trials so we may experience the calm and peace that will surely come after!
