Gospel Reading for November 11, 2025 – Luke 17: 7-10
GOD-GIVEN
Jesus said to the Apostles: “Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, ‘Come here immediately and take your place at table’? Would he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished’? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants;
we have done what we were obliged to do.'”

All of us were endowed with gifts from God from birth, and our gifts are meant to make us be of good service to humankind. When we go through TRUE DISCERNMENT, we will realize that these gifts help us recognize the mission which God has also given us from birth. Some of us have less gifts, some of us have more gifts, and some of us have extraordinary gifts. As Jesus says in Luke 12: 48 – “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.
We cannot complain to have been given more such that we are expected to give more. It is such a great opportunity to be allowed to contribute more to humanity. We also cannot complain that we have been given less because it is such a great opportunity to be able to serve more people even when we have less.
One thing we always have to remember is that our gifts are given not for ourselves only, but that by them we can be gifts to others, to humanity, to the world. Not one of us can take pride in the gifts we have, because they are all GOD-GIVEN.
Parents have the responsibility to recognize the gifts of their children, hone their gifts, and inculcate in them the sense of mission in life.
Help us Lord, to be of good service to you by gifting ourselves to others!
