Gospel Reading for May 01, 2026 – John 14: 1-6
HIM ALONE
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way.” Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

The COVID-19 pandemic brought immense anxiety, stress, and depression to the entire world. We may have endured it, yet these struggles continue to linger. With wars unfolding in different parts of the world, tensions within families—often driven by economic hardship—intense competition fueled by rapid technological growth, and constant exposure to social media, many still feel overwhelmed. For those who are not well-equipped to cope, feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, and loneliness can quietly take hold.
Seeking professional help and other forms of care that support the mind and body is important—but often not enough on their own. How vital it is to nurture faith in God, for it plays a central role in the life of every person created by him. Faith keeps us connected to him, our very source of life.
When we find ourselves at our lowest, it may also be the moment when we most recognize our need for God—a time to be renewed and restored. Jesus offers a refuge in his heart, where we can rest and be freed from our burdens, as he says in the Gospel of Matthew 11: 28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
He also assures us, “I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.” How blessed we are when we believe that we belong to HIM ALONE.
Lord Jesus, help us never to falter on life’s journey. Be with us always!
