Kawalang paggalang sa institusyong sumusuri sa paggasta ng pondo ng ahensya ang ginawang hindi pagdalo ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa budget hearing ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) sa Mababang Kapulungan.
Ito ang inihayag ni Manila Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr. sa pagdinig ng budget ng OVP, kung saan binigyan diin niya na ang mga pinuno ng ahensya ay kailangang personal na dumalo sa mga talakayan tungkol sa kanilang pondo sa susunod na taon.
“My goodness, I think her writing a letter to us telling us that she has completed, she still must be present, Madam Chair. And because she is not present, she is actually insulting the second institution that scrutinize the budget of the Vice President,” giit pa ni Abante.
“And I do not care even if she is the Vice President, Madam Chair. I will not allow that Congress will be insulted by the head of any agency,” dagdag pa nito.
Si Duterte ay una ng nagpadala ng liham sa Mababang Kapulungan na naka-address kina Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez at Appropriations Panel Chairperson Zaldy Co, na nagsasabing naipahayag na niya ang kaniyang posisyon sa nauna niyang opening statement at ipinapaubaya na niya sa komite ang pagtalakay sa badyet ng OVP para sa 2025.
Bagama’t hindi tinukoy sa liham na hindi dadalo sa budget hearing, hindi rin nagpakita ang Bise Presidente sa Kamara, at sinumang kinatawan ng kaniyang tanggapan.
“It is also a cherished tradition in Congress that whenever we deliberate the budget of a certain agency that the head of the agency must be present. At this point in time, there were no staff here of the head of the agency present of the Office of the Vice President,” ayon kay Abante.
