Gospel Reading for November 15, 2025 – Luke 18: 1-8

IMMENSITY

Jesus told his disciples a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said, “There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being. And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, ‘Render a just decision for me against my adversary.’ For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, ‘While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.’” The Lord said, “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says. Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

————

The prayer that Jesus is talking about here is the prayer of supplication or petition. There are those of us who say that they got tired of praying because their prayer was never answered.
When we are asking God for something, we need to have these: FAITH that he is most powerful and is the source of all we need; TRUST that because he loves us he will give only what’s best for us and will give it at the right time.

We have to understand that there is an insurmountable gap between God and human beings: God is OMNISCIENT. His scope of knowledge is incomprehensible to the human mind. God is OMNIPOTENT. His ability to create and sustain the universe is beyond our experience and imagination. God is OMNIPRESENT. He exists outside of time and space which we human beings never experience.

So, whenever we pray, we have to recognize the IMMENSITY of being God, hence, cannot put ourselves in his shoes. But as his created beings in his image and likeness, we are able to reach out to him in the spiritual realm.

We praise and thank you Father God, for sending us your Son Jesus, who taught us how to pray to you!
