Ang Mabuting Balita, 21 Nobyembre 2023 – Lucas 19: 1-10
PAGSUSURI SA SARILI
Noong panahong iyon, pumasok si Jesus sa Jerico, at naglakad sa kabayanan. Doo’y may isang mayamang puno ng mga publikano na nagngangalang Zaqueo. At pinagsikapan niyang makita si Jesus upang makilala kung sino ito. Ngunit siya’y napakapandak, at dahil sa dami ng tao, hindi niya makita si Jesus. Kaya’t patakbo siyang nagpauna at umakyat sa isang puno ng sikomoro upang makita si Jesus na magdaraan doon. Pagdating ni Jesus sa dakong iyon, siya’y tumingala at sinabi sa kanya, “Zaqueo, bumaba ka agad, sapagkat kailangan kong tumuloy ngayon sa bahay mo.” Nagmamadali siyang bumaba, at tuwang-tuwang tinanggap si Jesus. Lahat ng nakakita nito ay nagbulung-bulungan. “Nakikituloy siya sa isang makasalanan,” wika nila. Tumayo si Zaqueo at sinabi, “Panginoon, ibibigay ko po sa mga dukha ang kalahati ng aking ari-arian. At kung ako’y may nadayang sinuman, apat na ibayo ang isasauli ko sa kanya.” At sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Ang kaligtasa’y dumating ngayon sa sambahayang ito; lipi rin ni Abraham ang taong ito. Sapagkat naparito ang Anak ng Tao upang hanapin at iligtas ang naligaw.”

Marahil kung tayo ay nasa lugar ni Jesus, hindi natin mapapansin na mayroong lalaking umakyat sa puno para lamang makita tayong mabuti, ngunit nakita siya ni Jesus, at ang mas matindi para sa mga eskriba at Pariseo, inimbita ni Jesus ang sarili niya sa bahay ni Zaqueo. Kahit kailan, hindi makakaligtaan ng Diyos ang pagkakataong ibalik tayo sa kanyang piling kapag tayo ay naligaw ng landas. Dahil sa kanyang dakilang pag-ibig, nilikha niya tayo sa wangis niya, at hindi katulad ng karamihan sa atin, siya ay nananatiling matapat at lagi niya tayong iibigan kahit anupaman.
Si Jesus ay isang “celebrity,” sikat na sikat. Napakalaking karangalan para sa kanila kung si Jesus ay mapunta sa kanilang mga tahanan, tulad natin kapag may isang VIP o sikat na tao ang mag-imbita ng sarili niya sa ating tahanan. Sila ay nagbulung-bulungan, hindi dahil sa inggit, kundi sapagkat pinili ni Jesus na tumuloy sa bahay ng isang kilalang makasalanan. Para sa kanila, si Jesus ay busilak kaya’t bakit niya ginagawang marumi ang sarili niya? Magpasahanggan ngayon, mayroong sa atin na katulad ng mga taong yon. Dahil tayo ay laging nasa Simbahan, kabilang sa mga kaganapan dito, akala natin tayo ay mga busilak na at minamababa natin ang mga iba na hindi katulad natin. Akala natin na tayo ay mas karapat-dapat kaysa sa kanila. Ang problema rito ay – hindi natin mahiwalay ang makasalanan sa kasalanan. Nalilimutan natin na bagamat ang kasalanan ay permanente dito sa mundo, ang makasalanan ay hindi, sapagkat maaari siyang magbalik-loob o makabalik sa kanyang unang anyo ng pagiging likhang kawangis ng Diyos.
Kung ang “physical exercise” ay napakahalaga upang manatili tayong malusog sa katawan, ang “spiritual exercise” sa anyo ng PAGSUSURI SA SARILI (pagsusuri ng ating pakikipag-ugnayan sa Diyos) ay napakahalaga upang manatiling malusog ang ating kaluluwa. Sa halip ng tumingin sa kasalanan ng iba, tingnan natin ang sarili nating kasalanan. Tiyak, walang ni isa sa atin ang walang kasalanan, at tayo ay mananagot sa ating mga kasalanan at hindi sa kasalanan ng iba.
Panginoong Jesus, turuan mo kami maging maawain kung paano ka sa amin!
