In 1689, the Jesuit priests who formally replaced the Augustinian priests in San Mateo brought the image of the Virgin Mary from the town of Aranzazu, Nueva Vizcaya, Spain. Fr. Juan Echazabal, a Jesuit priest started the devotion to our Lady of Aranzazu from Spain and changed the patron of the town from St. Matthew to Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu.

The Parish of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu was proclaimed as a Diocesan Shrine by the Vatican in 2004, being the only church in the Philippines under the title of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu and only sister-parish of the Basilica of Aranzazu in Spain. At present, Rev. Fr. Lawrence (Larry) C. Paz serves as the Rector and Parish Priest of the Diocesan Shrine.

This September 2016 also marks the year-long celebration of the tercentennial anniversary of the enthronement of Nuestra Senora De Aranzazu as the patroness of San Mateo, Rizal. Furthermore, the Holy Father has approved the petition for the canonical coronation of the image of Mary under this title on May 31, 2017.

“Barangay Simbayanan” is the news and social concerns program that features Church ministries, commissions, organizations and lay groups that responds to a particular need of a sector or community. Anchored by Ms. Angelique Lazo with different priests for each day, the program airs from Monday to Friday from 8 to 10 am. Meanwhile, “Pamilya Mo, Pamilya Ko” is a magazine program discusses family matters. It is anchored by Bernard Canaberal and Jovie Barreto with priest anchors and also airs from Monday to Friday, from 10 to 11:55 in the morning.

Radio Veritas 846 is owned and operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. Established in 1969, the Ramon Magsaysay recipient Catholic radio station continues to be the leading social communications ministry for truth and evangelization in the country today.
