Pinuri ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Prison Pastoral Care ang ginagawang hakbang ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at Bureau of Corrections na pagbabakuna sa mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) sa bansa.
Ayon kay Legaspi Bishop Joel Baylon – chairman ng komisyon, isang magandang balita ang ulat ng BJMP na hindi bababa sa 91-porsyento ng mga persons deprived of liberty (PDL) ang nabakunahan na kontra COVID-19.
“The CBCP Episcopal Commission on Prison Pastoral Care receives with gladness the news that 91% of persons deprived of liberty in the detention facilities under the care of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) nationwide, has been vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. We further acknowledge a similar effort being done by the Bureau of Corrections in their respective facilities, albeit reportedly for still a small percentage of PDLs.”pahayag ni Bishop Baylon sa Radio Veritas.
Pinurii ng Obispo, ang hakbang ng mga institusyon ng pamahalaan upang maipadama sa mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) ang pagiging kasapi ng lipunan.
Ipinaliwabag ni Bishop Baylon na kaakibat ng proteksyon laban sa COVID-19 ay nagbibigay ito ng pag-asa at katiyakan na hindi sila naisasantabi sa lipunan maging sakabila ng kanilan.
“We hope and pray that these urgent and necessary responses in behalf of our brothers and sisters in the various detention facilities all over the country – including the centers for children in conflict with the law – will guarantee that they (PDLs) will not be left behind or taken for granted, but be guaranteed protection and safety from the covid-19 virus, like the rest of the country.” Dagdag pa ni Bishop Baylon.
Batay sa ulat ni BJMP Chief Jail Director Allan Iral hindi bababa sa 91% ng mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) ang nabakunahan na kontra COVID-19 sa ilalim ng BJMP, katumbas ito ng 114,570 sa 125,082 na mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) kung saan nasa kabuuang 76,084 na ang nakakumpleto ng kanilang pangalawang dose o fully vaccinated na.
Kaugnay nito, bahagi ng panlipunang turo ng Simbahan ang patuloy na pagpapahalaga sa dignidad at pagkakaroon ng karapatan ng mga bilanggo sa mga mahahalagang benepisyo.
