Gospel Reading for June 12, 2026 – Matthew 11: 25-30
ALIGN
Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
At that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to little ones. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

The heart is a vital part of our body because it pumps blood throughout the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to all our organs. When the heart stops beating, the supply of oxygen and nutrients ceases, and life comes to an end.
It is therefore fitting that, from a spiritual perspective, the heart also plays a vital role in our Faith. It is the center of our thoughts, desires, intentions, and will. As such, it profoundly influences our moral values and spiritual life. This is why Scripture says in 1 Samuel 16:7: “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
How important it is, then, for us Christians to ALIGN our hearts with the Heart of Jesus, the very source of Love. By doing so, we learn to be meek and humble of heart, and we find true rest in him.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in you!
