Umaapela ng panalangin si Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, Vice-President ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines para sa kaluluwa ng ika-11 biktima ng pagpaslang sa loob lamang ng 9 na araw sa kanyang nasasakupang diyosesis.
Sa personal na Facebook account ng Obispo, inihayag ni Bishop David ang patuloy na mga insidente ng pagpaslang sa South Caloocan, Malabon at Navotas na hindi na lumalabas at naibabalita ng mainstream media.
Dismayado din ang Obispo sa pagsasawalang bahala at tila hindi na pagbibigay halaga ng mga mamamahayag sa paglalahad ng patuloy na mga kaso at insidente ng pagpaslang sa lugar.
Dahil dito, umapela ng panalangin si Bishop David para sa mga kaluluwa ng mga napaslang at katatagan ng loob ng kanilang mga naiwang pamilya.
Aminado si Bishop David na bagamat hindi makatutulong ang Simbahang Katolika upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng bawat isa mula sa mga hindi pa natutukoy na mga salarin ay sinisikap naman ng diyosesis na matulungan at mailigtas ang mga naulilang pamilya mula sa pananamantala ng mga mapang-abusong funeral parlors sa lugar.
Batay sa tala ni Bishop David, muling nagsimula ang sunod-sunod na insidente ng pagpaslang sa lugar noong ika-24 ng Agosto kung saan wala pa ring nahuhuling salarin.
ELEVEN DOCUMENTED KILLINGS IN THE PAST 9 DAYS (Aug 24- Sept1) IN JUST OUR DIOCESE
Please pray for their souls and for their widowed wives and orphaned children. We cannot save them from their killers but we are trying at least to save their families from exorbitant fees for funeral service by predatory funeral parlors. Take note, most of the killings are no longer reported in the mainstream media. The killings don’t seem to be newsworthy anymore because they are “more of the same”. We have no way of documenting them systematically, so if you know of any other within South Caloocan, Malabon & Navotas.
Sept.1 past midnight, Still unidentified male killed in police ops at BMBA compound 2nd, ave. Brgy 120 Caloocan.
Aug 30 victim shot and killed at 3rd ave. He has been identified as Ador Mallari, 40 yrs old, and a resident of 3rd ave. Brgy 120.
• Aug. 30 around 7 pm, another unidentified male killed in police encounter at 3 ave cor Rizal Ave. Ext. Caloocan. (However, there are still three unidentified bodies at the Eusebio funeral parlor.)
• Aug. 29 past 4am Victim, still unidentified, was shot and killed during a police encounter with DEU (drug enforcement unit) at De Leon St. Sta. Quiteria, brgy. 163, Caloocan.
• Aug. 28 about 12:30 am, Rodel Tayag, 33 yrs old, was killed during police ops at DM compound, heroes del 96, brgy. 73, Caloocan. • Aug 26, a victim was shot and killed by unidentified assailants at 1am. He was identified as Resty Santiago, 32 yrs old, from blk 20 lot 21 Dulong Hernandez st. Catmon Malabon.
• Aug 26 about 9 pm Ely John Viernes, 37, was shot and killed by unknown gunman at a makeshift billiard hall at west service road brgy. 151, Bagong Barrio Caloocan
• Aug. 26, Ricardo Rivera Reyes 21 yrs old. He had been abducted and had been missing since Aug.16. He was found dead on Aug.26 at Chinese Gen. hospital. Police report said he fought back in a buy bust operation and was brought to hospital dead on arrival.
• Aug 24, still unidentified victim shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in Catmon, Malabon.
