Itinakda ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines ang ika-29 ng Marso bilang “Special Day of Prayer” para sa mga medical frontliners sa gitna ng Coronavirus Disease 2019 outbreak.
Sa liham sirkular ni CBCP President Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, inaatasan ang lahat ng mga diyosesis sa buong bansa na i-alay sa mga health workers ang panalangin sa mga gagawing Banal na Misa, Banal na Rosaryo at Banal na Oras kasabay na rin ng ika-limang linggo sa apatnapung araw na paghahanda.
Nakasaad rin sa tagubilin ni Archbishop Valles ang apela sa bawat mananampalataya na personal na isama sa panalangin ang kalagayan, kaligtasan at kapakanan ng mga medical personnels na patuloy na nagkakaloob ng kanilang serbisyo sa kabila ng banta ng nakahahawa at nakamamatay na sakit.
“We make this call and invitation to all our bishops, clergy and religious, and to all our faithful, to be united in a Special Day of Prayer for All our Frontline Medical Personnel in our fight against the Corona Virus Disease Pandemic on March 29, 2020, the 5th Sunday of Lent. We do this in all our Masses, our Rosaries, during our Holy Hour, and in our moments of Personal Prayer.” bahagi ng liham sirkular ni CBCP President Archbishop Valles.
Ipinaliwanag ni Archbishop Valles na nakasalalay na sa pastoral directives ng bawat parokya at diyosesis ang pag-usal ng panalangin para sa mga medical personnel sa pambungad na panalangin sa misa, homiliya at panalanin ng bayan; at prayer intentions sa pagdarasal ng Rosaryo at Banal na Oras.
Gayunpaman, patuloy pa ring hinihikayat ang lahat na ipagpatuloy ang pagdarasal ng Oratio Imperata laban sa COVID-19.
“We leave it to each diocese and its parished to concretize this general call to prayer in your liturgies and pastoral directives. This may be articulated in our introduction to the masses, homilies, prayers of the faithful, and intentions in our rosaries and holy hour. Of course we continue praying Oratio Imperata.” Dagdag pa ni Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles.
Bukod sa pagbibigay suporta at panalangin para sa mga medical frontliners ay ipinaalala rin ng Arsobispo ang tungkulin ng Simbahan upang gabayan at himukin ang mga mamamayan na sumunod at tumugon sa mga payo ng eksperto at ipinatutupad ng pamahalaan na Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine.
“Among the actions of support we can do is remind ourselves and our people to cooperate with and obey and follow the quarantine measures that our local government directed us to follow, most especially the directive to stay at home.”paalala ni Archbishop Valles.
