Ipinabatid ng opisyal ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) na karagdagang pasakit para sa mga umuuwing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) na nasa mga quarantine facilities ang paghihintay ng matagal sa kanilang resulta sa mga COVID-19 tests.
Ayon kay Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos Vice Chairman ng CBCP- Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People pinaiikli nito ang dapat sana’y panahon na inilalaan na lamang ng mga OFW sa kanilang mga pamilya.
“The slow and delayed release of the RT PCR Covid19 test results is added burden to our OFWs. Their much needed vacation with their family and rest are shortened. It gives them much anxiety and worried them. Also it affects our economy as their works temporarily stopped or they may lose their previous jobs,” ayon sa mensahe ng Obispo sa Radio Veritas.
Ito ay matapos iulat ng Overseas Workers Welfare Administration o (OWWA) ang pagbagal sa mga resulta dahil sa dami ng mga OFW na sumasailalim sa mga swab testing upang matiyak ang kalagayan mula sa banta ng COVID-19.
Apela ng Obispo sa mga namamahala ng quarantine procedure ang pagbibigay prayoridad sa mga OFW kung saan makakabuti ang pagkakaroon ng hiwalay na mga pila at proseso ang mga ito.
Muli ring ipinabatid ni Bishop Santos ang higit na pangangailangan ng pagtatatag ng Department of OFW na makakatulong sa mga prosesong kailangan pagdaan ng sektor tuwing uuwi ng Pilipinas.
“Let the government officials prioritise the issuance of RT PCR tests of our OFWs. Also it will be a great help and huge relief if there are preferred lines, or windows for OFWs. Here, department of OFWs is truly needed and will be an immense blessing to them,” ayon pa kay Bishop Santos.
Panawagan naman ng Obispo sa mga OFW na naghihintay ng kanilang resulta ang pagkakaroon ng mas mahabang pasensya.
Tiniyak rin ni Obispo ang pagdaraos ng misa para sa ikabubuti at kaligtasan ng kalagayan ng mga OFW at mandaragat sa ibat-ibang bahagi ng mundo higit na ngayong panahon ng Pandemya.
“We, in cbcp ecmi, appeal for the patience and continued cooperation of our OFWs. These qualities-patience, perseverance and collaboration-are your known qualities. Now, we are translating them not only in foreign lands or in your works but much more at home. We are always praying and offering our Holy Masses especially of our OFWs and seafarers chaplains for your safety, strength and sound health,” ani Bishop Santos.
