Ipinapanalangin ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines na taglayin ng susunod na Kalihim ng Edukasyon ang nagtataglay ng katangian ng pagiging matapat.
Ito ay ayon kay Bayombong Bishop Elmer Mangalinao-chairman ng CBCP Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education.
Ayon sa Obispo, ito ay upang maayos na mapangasiwaan ng Department of Education ang mga mag-aaral at sila’y magabayan tungo sa pagkatuto ang mabuting asal.
“Anybody should pass the process of scrutiny for this position. For me, whoever is assigned should have the disposition to teach the proper values especially in terms of Honesty and Truthfulness,” ayon sa mensaheng ipinadala sa Radio Veritas ng Obispo.
Pananalangin rin ni Bishop Mangalinao na maitalaga ang kalihim na mayroong sapat na kasanayan at isang dalubhasa sa larangan ng edukasyon.
“Whoever is appointed as DepEd Secretary, we hope and pray that He or she has a profound background in/on education because it affects the here and now of the youth and the future of our land,” ayon pa sa Obispo.
Una ng itinalaga ni President-Elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si Vice-President Elect Sara Duterte bilang kalihim ng DepEd.
