Nagpaabot ng pakikiramay ang Stella Maris Philippines sa mga naiwang pamilya at mahal sa buhay ng dating pangulo ng Pilipinas na si Fidel V Ramos na pumunaw dulot ng mga komplikasyon ng COVID-19.
Sa pangunguna ni Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Bishop Promoter ng Stella Maris Philippines ay tiniyak ng institusyon ang pag-aalay ng misa at pananalangin para sa dating Punong Ehekutibo.
“It is with profound sadness that we heard the demise of former President Fidel V. Ramos. On behalf of the seafarers, their respective families, we, Stella Maris-Philippines offer prayers for his soul and condolences to the family. Stella Maris-Philippines’ chaplains shall offer prayer masses for his eternal rest and strength his bereaved family” ayon sa pahayag ng Stella Maris Philippines.
Muli ring inalala ng institusyon ang pagkilala sa hakbang ng dating Administrasyon Ramos na ideklara sa bisa ng Proclamation No.1094 ang huling linggo sa buwan ng Setyembre bilang National Seafarers Day (NSD).
Sa tulong ng hakbang ay higit na nabigyang pagkilala ang sektor ng seafarers at itinatag ang Pilipinas na kabilang sa Maritime Industry ng buong mundo.
Kahanay din ng proklamasyon ang pandaidigang paggunita sa NSD ng International Maritime Organization (IMO) World Maritime Day.
“The seafarers and their families, the welfare service providers, the maritime world and stakeholders acknowledge that P.D. 1094 is a historical moment. It has helped not only to raise awareness of the ‘blue economy’ but above all, to make everyone more aware of the sacrifices that seafarers go through to move the around 90% of the goods in the world. Our heartfelt gratitude to you, former President Fidel V. Ramos, for your great contribution to seafarers and their families,” ayon pa sa pahayag ng Stella Maris.
Sa darating na paggunita ng National Seafarers Day sa September 25 ngayong taon, ay tiniyak din ng institusyon ang pagbibigay pugay sa dating pangulo ng Pilipinas.
Una naring nakiramay Military Ordinariate of the Philippines at si Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Emeritus Teodoro Bacani Jr sa pagpanaw ng dati at ika-12 Pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas.
