Financial at legal assistance sa mga O-F-W, isinusulong ni Tulfo sa Senado

Isinusulong ni Senator Raffy Tulfo ang mga panukalang batas na layong matulungan ang mga Overseas Filipino Workers.

Sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Migrant Workers kasama ang Justice and Human Rights hiniling ni Tulfo sa mga kapwa mambabatas ng senado na suportahan ang agarang pagsasabatas ng Senate Bill No. 969 ang Filipino Migrant Workers; Senate Bill No. 1175 or Encouraging New Lawyer-Scholars to Provide Free Legal Services to Overseas Filipino Workers at ang Senate Bill No. 1448 or Expanding the Use of the Legal Assistance Fund.

“During the organizational meeting, I mentioned my desire to this committee’s commitment to primarily devote time and effort in the passage of laws that will make the process for deployment, repatriation and financial assistance streamlined, hassle-free and affordable to migrant workers.” ayon sa pahayag ni Tulfo.

Sinabi ng mambabatas na ang mga nabanggit na panukala ay makatutulong sa Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) para sa pagbibigay financial at legal assistance sa mga OFW.

Nagpasalamat naman si Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva sa suporta sa SBN 1148 o Expanding the Use of the Legal Assistance Fund na malaking tulong sa halos 11-M OFW na kasalukuyang nagtatrabaho sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo.

Nilinaw ni Villanueva na bukod pa ito sa Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund sa ilalim ng DMW.

“In line with the state’s policy to afford full protection to labor, both local and overseas, we are seeking, with the help of the committee and all persons present today, to expand the coverage of the Legal Assistance Fund to include all stages of case proceedings, from the time of commencement of the complaint until promulgation and execution of judgment, and all appeal levels.” saad ni Villanueva.

Una nang tiniyak ng simbahang katolika sa pangunguna ng migrant’s ministry ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines ang pagsusulong at pakikipagtulungan sa mga programang mangangalaga sa kapanakan at karapatan ng bawat migranteng Pilipino.
