Gospel Reading for September 18, 2026 – Luke 8: 1-3
RECIPIENTS
Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.

The women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities were not just RECIPIENTS of God’s mercy and compassion. They responded to God’s call by helping provide for the needs of Jesus and the Twelve through their own resources.
When we become RECIPIENTS of God’s love, mercy, and compassion, we are also called to reciprocate by sharing the love, mercy, and compassion we have received with others in need. This is how we tell the world of His love.
Lord Jesus, teach us to be grateful for all the blessings we receive each day by sharing with those in need what we have received. Amen.
