Hinimok ni San Carlos Negros Occidental Bishop Gerardo Alminaza ang mamamayan na malapit sa Mt. Kanlaon na maging mapagmatyag at sumunod sa payo ng mga eksperto.
Sa panalangin ng obispo na ipinadala sa Radio Veritas, hiniling nito sa Panginoon ang paggabay at kaligtasan ng bawat isa mula sa posibleng pagputok ng bulkan.
“O Spirit of Wisdom and Fortitude, guide and strengthen our leaders and all those charged to care for the safety of everyone. Keep us calm and vigilant and obedient to our local authorities,”panalangin ni Bishop Alminaza sa Radio Veritas.
Sa inilabas na bulletin ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology’s (Phivolcs) apat na magkasunod na lindol ang naitala nitong ika – 22 ng Hunyo kung saan nasa 4.7 magnitude ang pagyanig sa La Carlota Negros habang naramdaman din ito sa kalapit bayan ng La Castellana, Pontevedra, Bago at Bacolod.
Dalangin ni Bishop Alminaza na tulad ng pagpapakalma ni Hesus sa malalakas na alon sa karagatan, nawa’y tuluyan ding pahupain ang mga aktibidad na naitatala sa bulkang Kanlaon para sa kapanatagan ng kalooban ng mamamayan partikular ang mga naninirahan malapit dito.
“Lord Jesus Christ, just as you calmed the storm (Mark 4:35-41) and made the wind and waves obey you (Luke 8:22-25), so we trust you can calm Kanlaon volcano and protect the surrounding communities. Forgive our sins and help us care for one another,” dagdag ng obispo.
Patuloy ang paalala ng mga lokal opisyal ng pamahalaan sa mga residente na maging maingat, mapagbantay at manalangin para sa kaligtasan sa posibleng epekto ng pagligalig ng bulkan.
Kasalukuyang nasa alert level 1 ang estado ng bulkan kung saan mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang pananatili sa four-kilometer radius permanent danger zone habang mahigpit itong binabantayan ng Philvocs.
PRAYER
“Loving Father, five years ago you inspired Pope Francis to remind us that the massive destruction brought about by volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, typhoons, floods, forest fires and even the covid-19 pandemic are but various ways our Mother Earth now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of the goods with which you have endowed her.
Help us recognize that the problem lies in our view of ourselves as her lords and masters, entitled to plunder her at will. May we realize that the violence present in our hearts, wounded by sin, is also reflected in the symptoms of sickness evident in the soil, in the water, in the air and in all forms of life.
We humbly and sincerely ask forgiveness from each other and from the rest of your creation for allowing the earth herself, burdened and laid waste, to be among the most abandoned and maltreated of our poor and now she “groans in travail” (Rom 8:22).
We have forgotten that we ourselves are dust of the earth (cf. Gen 2:7); our very bodies are made up of her elements, we breathe her air and we receive life and refreshment from her waters (cf. LS, 2). Lord Jesus Christ, just as you calmed the storm (Mark 4:35-41) and made the wind and waves obey you (Luke 8:22-25), so we trust you can calm Kanlaon volcano and protect the surrounding communities.
Forgive our sins and help us care for one another. O Spirit of Wisdom and Fortitude, guide and strengthen our leaders and all those charged to care for the safety of everyone. Keep us calm and vigilant and obedient to our local authorities. Mary, Mother of Mercy and of Hope, you know what we need.
