“CWS believes that this mismanagement of billions-worth of public funds constitutes criminal negligence. These funds could have been used to save thousands of lives if only these were translated into meaningful programs during the Covid-19 health crisis. Furthermore, the amount could have at least eased the economic conditions of our frontline health workers,” pahayag ni Bishop Gerardo Alminaza.

“CWS supports the planned mass protest of a group of health workers from private and public hospitals over DOH’s failure to release their benefits. The planned mass protest by the Alliance of Health Workers (AHW) is just and legitimate in the midst of government’s failure to listen to the grievances of the health sector, which includes meal, transportation, and accommodation allowance, Special Risk Allowance and Active Hazard Duty Pay,” dagdag pa ni Bishop Alminaza.

Nasasaad sa isinapublikong report ng COA ang mahigit sa Php 67.3 billion unused or misused COVID-19 funds ng DOH na kinabibilangan ng Php 11.9 billion worth of unused risk allowance and hazard pay; P 1.2 billion unutilized and undelivered equipment; P 2.8 billion idle for infrastructure projects; Php 95 million worth of expired, idle drugs and medicines; Php 4.6 billion unused for public health; Php 65.3 million deficiencies in procurement of assets; nasa Php 557.7 million “excessive and unnecessary” expenditures.
