Go back in time and view the history of the Archdiocese of Manila through the Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila (MANA) exhibit currently being held at the third floor of the Arzobispado de Manila in Intramuros.
The exhibit is a survey of the history of the Archdiocese of Manila divided into six parts: (1) The Introduction of Christianity, 1521-1570; (2) Early Evangelization, 1570-1650; (3) Evangelization in an Established Church, 1650-1770; (4) Towards the end of an era, 1770-1898; (5) Adjusting to a new order, 1898-1945; and (6) under the local hierarchy, 1945-2015.
The exhibit aims to encourage the faithful to go on a pilgrimage in time as well as to re-live the history of the archdiocese. Through this collection, the Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila presents the story of the local Church of Manila dating from the arrival of Christianity to the Philippines in the 16th century to the establishment of churches, convents, schools, and hospitals to the emergence of a Church with native leaders.
The exhibit, which opened last September 19, can be viewed at the museum which is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m and will run until November 2016. The director of the Archdiocesan Museum is Fr. Albert Flores.
