CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc. and Land Bank of the Philippines officials recently signed a partnership with Caritas Manila to provide educational assistance to the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) scholars.

Present during the signing of the expanded memorandum of agreement held at Caritas Manila Compound on October 13, 2016 are (left to right) Caritas Damayan Priest Minister Rev. Fr. Ricardo Valencia, Caritas Manila YSLEP Program Head Helen Oreto, CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc. CSP Donor Coordinator AUSA Efren Tompong, CFC ANCOP Global Foundation Inc. Operation Head Elmer Cadiz, Landbank of the Philippines Scholarship Coordinator Arnold Aldaba, Caritas Manila Executive Director Rev. Fr. Anton Pascual, CFC Global Mission Chairman Jose Tale and CFC ANCOP Global Foundation Inc. President Jaime Ilagan.

CFC ANCOP will provide Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) grants to qualified and deserving vocational and college students through Caritas Manila effective from school year 2016-2017 to prevent them from being school drop-outs and street children.

Also, they will provide one year financial assistance to qualified students taking up Agriculture related courses identified under Caritas Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program using the fund that CFC ANCOP and Land Bank have raised for education of poor and deserving youth. The educational assistance is effective from the second semester of school year 2016-2017 until the first semester of the school year 2017-2018.

Fr. Pascual said that the vision of this partnership is to alleviate poverty through education as he believes that the future leaders of the country will come from the empowered poor.

CFC ANCOP and Caritas Manila have been partners since 2013 as both their education programs, YSLEP of Caritas and Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) of CFC ANCOP, are both geared towards using education to reduce poverty incidence in the country.

YSLEP is the flagship program of Caritas Manila, which extends financial assistance to poor but deserving youth, and trains and hones the youth not only for academic excellence, but also equip them with personal discipline, moral integrity and social responsibility to become servant leaders and good members of the community.

To date, Caritas Manila has produced over 10,000 graduates and continues to provide educational assistance, values formation workshops, and leadership trainings to almost 5,000 students nationwide with an average of 500 college and technical/vocational graduates yearly.
