Tiwala si Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos na magagampanan ni Bishop-elect Fr. Rufino Sescon Jr. ang pagpapastol sa mahigit kalahating milyong kawan sa Diocese ng Balanga sa Bataan.
Ayon sa Obispo, ang mga karanasan ni Bishop-elect Sescon ay sapat na paghuhubog upang ganap na maging handa sa bagong misyong kakaharapin bilang punong pastol sa buong lalawigan ng Bataan.
“Fr. Jun’s journey of spiritual leadership and pastoral care has undoubtedly prepared him for this noble responsibility. His deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of the faithful, coupled with his compassionate heart and steadfast devotion to God’s work, makes him exceptionally qualified to lead the Diocese of Bataan,” bahagi ng pahayag ni Bishop Santos.
Inihayag ng Vatican ang appointment sa bagong obispo ng Balanga nitong December 3 sa kapistahan ni San Francisco Javier habang ipinaalam naman ito ni Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula sa regular Presbyteral Council meeting ng arkidiyosesis kung saan dumalo rin ang pamilya ng bishop elect.
Ibinahagi rin ni Bishop Santos ang personal na pagkakilala kay Bishop-elect Sescon bilang kanyang estudyante noon sa San Carlos Seminary sa Makati City.
“His esteemed selection for this sacred role is a testament to his unwavering faith, dedication, and exemplary service to the Church and the community,” ani Bishop Santos.
Sinabi ni Bishop Santos na isang biyaya sa lokal na simbahan ng Bataan ang pagkatalaga kay Bishop-elect Sescon na makatutulong sa paglago ng pananampalataya ng mamamayan sa lugar.
Dalangin ng obispo ang katatagan at higit na pagpapala mula sa Diyos upang magampanan ang kanyang mga tungkuling pagpapastol sa ipinagkatiwalang kawan.
“As he embarks on this blessed journey, may God’s infinite wisdom and love continue to guide and empower him. Bataan is indeed blessed to have a shepherd as distinguished and virtuous as Fr. Jun. Si Bishop-elect Sescon ay kasalukuyang Kura Paroko at Rector ng Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno o Quiapo Church at kasapi ng presbyteral council ng arkidiyosesis bilang Episcopal Vicar for Manila.
Ipinanganak ang pari noong April 20 1972 at inordinahan sa Archdiocese of Manila noong September 19, 1998.
Ilan sa mga naging tungkulin ni Bishop-elect Sescon ang pagiging private secretary ni dating Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin, chancellor at administrator ng Villa San Miguel, chaplain ng Sto. Niño de Paz Chapel o Greenbelt Chapel mula taong 2005, Priest-in-charge ng Mary, Mother of Hope Chapel Landmark sa Makati City.
Gayudin ang pagiging commissioner ng Formation of the Laity and Christian Communities at director ng San Lorenzo Ruiz Lay Formation Center.
Ang Diocese of Balanga na sede vacante mula May 2023 ay pansamantalang pinangangasiwaan ni San Fernando Pampanga Archbishop Florentino Lavarias mula July 2023.
