Nagpahayag na rin ng suporta ang Council of the Laity ng Archdiocese of Manila sa kandidatura nina Vice President Leni Robredo at Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan para sa pagka-pangulo at pangalawang pangulo sa darating na halalan.
Kasabay ng Dakilang Kapistahan ng Pagpapahayag ng Mabuting Balita tungkol sa Panginoon o Solemnity of the Annunciation of our Lord ay inihayag ng Council of the Laity-RCAM ang resulta ng mga isinagawang circles of discernment ng mga laiko sa Arkdiyosesis.
Tinagurian ang discernment process ng Sangguniang Laiko ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila na “Hininga-Nilay-Kilos” o See-Judge-Act kung saan nagsilbing gabay ng mga layko ang mga panlipunang turo ng Simbahan sa pagninilay kung sino ang mga karapat-dapat na ihalal na mga bagong opisyal.
“Invoking the Holy Spirit in prayer, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila-Council of the Laity (RCAM-CL) went through a “Hininga-Nilay-Kilos” (See-Judge-Act) discernment process in the context of the present political situation for the upcoming national elections in May 2022. In our collective discernment, we, the overwhelming majority of the Vicariate Lay Representatives constituting the core group of the RCAM Council of the Laity, have come to the conclusion that Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan are the persons most qualified to lead our nation as President and Vice President respectively,” pahayag ng Council of the Laity-RCAM.
Ipinaliwanag ng Council of the Laity ng Archdiocese of Manila na pinangungunahan ng Interim President nito na si Teodoro Santiago ang kanilang aktibong pagkikisangkot sa usaping pulitika.
Ayon kay Santiago, ito ang tugon ng mga layko sa arkisiyosesis sa hamon ng Simbahan partikular na ng Second Plenary Council of the Philippines (PCP 2) na pangunahan ng mga layko ang paghubog sa civic conscience ng taumbayan upang pumili ng mga opisyal na tunay na maglilingkod para sa kabutihan ng mas nakararami o ng common good.
“Our faith tells us that the obligation to participate in political life is rooted in our baptismal commitment to follow Jesus Christ and to bear Christian witness in all we do. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us, “It is necessary that all participate, each according to his/her position and role, in promoting the common good. This obligation is inherent in the dignity of the human person… As far as possible, citizens should take an active part in public life” (Catechism of the Catholic Church nos. 1913-1915),” dagdag pa ng Council of the Laity-RCAM.
Unang nagpahayag ng suporta sa kandidatura nina Vice President Leni Robredo at Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan para sa pagka-pangulo at pangalawang pangulo ang Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas at ang iba pang Diocesan at Archdiocesan Council of the Laity kabilang na ang mga layko mula sa mga Diyosesis ng Parañaque; Tarlac; Legazpi; Novaliches; Romblon; Archdiocese of Lipa; Archdiocese of San Fernando Pampanga; Apostolic Vicariate of Calapan at Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay, Palawan.
