Umapela ng tulong at imbestigasyon si Stella Maris CBCP-Bishop Promoter at CBCP-Episcopal Comission on Migrants and Itinerant People (CBCP-ECMI) Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos ang pagkamatay ng mga Filipino Seafarer malapit sa Red Sea.
Ayon sa Obispo, pagpapakita ito ng panganib sa buhay ng mga manlalayag na dapat sana ay hindi nangangamba sa kanilang buhay habang nasa trabaho.
“We are deeply grieved by the reported loss of two Filipino seafarers following the violent vattack on a commercial vessel near the Red Sea. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones, whose sorrow reverberates through the entire Filipino nation. Let us mourn with them and lift their pain to the Lord, asking that He grant them strength, healing, and peace, This tragedy underscores the peril our overseas workers face in global conflict zones. They serve with courage and sacrifice, often hidden from the headlines yet essential to the lifeblood of many nations. We must not allow their suffering to be forgotten, nor their lives lost in silence,” ayon sa mensaheng pinadala ni Bishop Santos sa Radyo Veritas.
Apela ng Obispo sa pamahalaan ang imbetigasyon kung bakit nadamay ang dalawang Filipino Seafarers, malinaw na resulta nito at pakikipagtulungan sa international authorities upang makamit ang katarungan para sa mga namatay na Pilipinong mandaragat.
Tiniyak naman ni Bishop Santos ang pag-aalay ng panalangin, pag-aalay ng misa at kahandaan sa pagtulong sa mga naiwang pamilya ng mga nasawi.
Gayundin ang pananalangin ng Obispo para sa pamamayani ng kapayapaan dahil sa pagpapatuloy ng digmaan sa Holy Land.
“On the broader issue of Filipino workers in the Israel-Palestine conflict zone, let us join the growing call for discernment and action. The safety of our kababayans must be paramount. Repatriation should be made available, especially for those who feel unsafe or are exposed to ongoing violence. Let us remember, the Holy Land should be a place of pilgrimage—not peril, We place our trust in God, who walks with us through every storm. Ngayon ay umaabot na sa Apat na Pilipino ang kumpirmadong nasawi matapos atakihin ng mga Houthi forces ang shipping vessel ng MV Eternity C kung nasaan ang mga Filipino Seafarers, lulan ng Barko ang 21-Seafarers na binubuo ng 20-Pilipino at isang Russian Seafarers.
Sa bilang, sampu pa lamang ang naililigtas habang apat na Pilipino naman ang naitalang nasawi.
