Dagok sa democratic system ng bansa at sa separation of powers ng pamahalaan ang pagkatig ng mayorya ng Supreme Court justices sa “Qou Warranto case” na inihain ng Office of the Solicitor General laban kay Chief Justice Ma.Lourdes Sereno.
Sa pamamagitan ng botong 8-6 sa quo warranto case, diniskuwalipika ng mga mahistrado ng Korte Suprema ang punong mahistrado na ayon sa Saligang Batas ay maaari lamang mapatalsik sa puwesto sa pamamagitan ng impeachment.
Iginiit ni Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Antonio Ledesma, Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo at dating Constitutional Commission member Novaliches Bishop Emeritus na ang pagpapatalsik ng walong mahistrado ng Korte Supreme kay Chief Justice Sereno ay isang malungkot na pangyayari sa demokratikong sistema ng pamahalaan, sa Supreme Court at sa separation of powers ng executive,legislative at judicial branch ng pamahalaan.

Iginiit naman ni Bishop Pabillo na dapat manindigan ang mamamayan sa tahasang pagkontrol ng executive department sa Korte Suprema na co-equal branch ng pamahalaan.
Binigyan diin ni Bishop Bacani na klarong-klaro sa 1987 constitution na isa lang ang pamamaraan sa pagpapatalsik sa Supreme Court Chief Justice sa pamamagitan ng impeachment.
Sinabi ni Bishop Bacani na ang qou warranto case ay malinaw na paglabag sa Korte Suprema bilang hiwalay at co-equal branch ng government.
“It is a sad day for democracy in the Philippines and it is a very sad day for the Supreme Court especially for the members who voted for the ousting of Sereno through Quo Warranto. Ako member ako ng Constitutional Commission, klarong-klaro na isa lang ang puwedeng pamamaraan para i-oust ang Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and that is by impeachment pati ang president gayundin. Kaya ito ay clear violation of the Supreme Court. It is a sad day for the Philippines it has weakened our chief protector of our democracy which is non-other than the Supreme Court. Naninindigan naman si Father Jerome Secillano Executive secretary ng CBCP-Permanent Committee on Public Affairs na hindi naging patas ang proseso dahil ang mga bumoto para patalsikin si Sereno ay mga justice na nag-akusa at sila rin ang nagdesisyon sa kanilang akusasyon.
Nilinaw ni Father Secillano na ang naging desisyon ng walong mahistrado ng Korte Suprema ay malinaw na paglabag sa prinsipyo ng pagpataw ng hustisya.
“Hindi natin nakitaan ng fairness dito sa prosesong ito dahil ang mga bumoto para patalsikin si CJ Sereno ay ilan din sa kanila ay may mga akusasyon din laban kay Chief Justice. May mga justice na nag-akusa kay Sereno tapos itong mga justice na ito sila rin ang gumawa ng desisyon. So, they are the accuser at the same time they are the judge. Very basic na paglabag yan sa prinsipyo ng pagpapataw ng hustisya. Kahit sino hindi ka law student o abogado, hindi ka puwedeng maging accuser at the same time you are the one who will meted justice to the one you are accusing.”pahayag ni Father Secillano.
Kaugnay nito, hinimok naman ni Archdiocese of Ozamis Archbishop Martin Jumoad ang taumbayan na maging mahinahon at magdasal sa Holy Spirit para sa kaliwanagan ng lahat.
