Radio Veritas will open its chapel in Quezon City for the public veneration of the first class relic “ex capillis”( from the hair) and second class relic “ex indumentis”( from the clothing) of Blessed Mother Teresa of Kolkata (Calcutta) from August 26 until the date of her canonization on September 4, 2016.

An advocate for the poor and soon to be saint, Blessed Mother Teresa of Kolkata was born in Skopje, then part of the Kosovo Vilayet in the Ottoman Empire (Macedonia). After having lived in Macedonia for eighteen years, she moved to Ireland and then to India, where she lived for most of her life.

Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, which in 2012 was consisted of over 4,500 sisters and was active in 133 countries. They run hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis; soup kitchens; dispensaries and mobile clinics; children’s and family counselling programs; orphanages; and schools.

Mother Teresa was a recipient of numerous honors, including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize for building homes for orphans and a hospice for the terminally ill in India. On October 9, 2003 she was beatified as “Blessed Teresa of Calcutta”. A second miracle was credited to her intercession by Pope Francis, in December 2015, paving the way for her to be recognized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. Blessed Mother Teresa will be canonized as Saint on September 4, 2016.

Devotees may pray before the relics of Blessed Mother Teresa from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel. For inquiries, please call Ms. Renee Jose or Mr. Rey Isabela at (02) 925-7932 to 39 local 129.
