Nagagalak at nagpapasalamat si Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santos matapos makadaupang-palad si Pope Leo XIV sa Vatican sa kanilang pagbisita bilang bahagi ng Marian pilgrimage ng mga pari ng Diocese of Antipolo sa Roma.
Ayon sa obispo, naging makabuluhan at biyayang espiritwal ang pakikipagtagpo sa Santo Papa na higit na nagpatibay sa ugnayan ng lokal na simbahan sa Simbahang pandaigdig.
“Meeting him strengthens our communion with the Universal Church and deepens our fidelity and obedience to her teachings,” pahayag ni Bishop Santos sa Radyo Veritas.
Sinabi ng obispo na naging mahalagang biyaya rin para sa mga pari ng diyosesis ang personal na pakikipagkita at pagtanggap ng bendisyon mula sa punong pastol ng Simbahang Katolika.
“For a priest, this is not merely ceremonial; it is a sacred moment of affirmation, a blessing that strengthens the soul and renews the call to faithful ministry in the service of Christ and His Church,” ani Bishop Santos.
Ibinahagi rin ng obispo ang kahalagahan ng pag-aalay nila kay Pope Leo XIV ng tatlong talampakang imahe ng Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje o Our Lady of Antipolo bilang tanda ng debosyon ng mga Pilipinong mananampalataya.
“This sacred image now remains in Rome as a silent prayer for our Diocese and for the Filipino faithful throughout the world,” saad ni Bishop Santos.
Ayon kay Bishop Santos, higit na naging makahulugan ang handog na imahe sa Santo Papa habang naghahanda ang diyosesis sa ika-400 taon ng pagdating ng imahe sa Pilipinas at ika-100 taon ng canonical coronation nito.
“This offering becomes even more meaningful as we prepare to celebrate two historic milestones: the 400th year of her arrival in the Philippines and the 100th year of her canonical coronation,” dagdag pa ng obispo.
Umaasa naman si Bishop Santos na magsisilbing inspirasyon ang kanilang karanasan sa Vatican upang higit pang mahalin ng mga mananampalataya ang Simbahan at manatiling matatag sa pananampalataya.
“May this memorable encounter inspire us all to love the Church more deeply, remain steadfast in faith, and continue walking together as pilgrims of hope under the maternal care of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage,” ayon kay Bishop Santos.
Dumalo si Bishop Santos kasama ang delegasyon ng mga pari ng diyosesis sa general audience ni Pope Leo XIV sa St. Peter’s Square sa Vatican noong Mayo 27.
