OPTIMUM AND PERFECT

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets.

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.”

————

These snippets of wisdom from Jesus may sound common, especially the golden rule of doing to others what we want them to do to us, because it is said to be part of the morals of the renowed Chinese philosopher, Confucius, who is said to have lived 500 years before the birth of Jesus. This is proof that man is indeed made in God’s image and likeness, for him to adhere to such morals even before knowing Jesus’ teachings. Jesus was part of the human family. He did not separate himself nor his teachings. As a matter of fact, he enhanced good teachings and laws that were being practiced during his time. Shall we say that we didn’t need Jesus’ teachings and Confucius’ was enough? Of course not. The teachings of Jesus are OPTIMUM and PERFECT because he is the Son of God. When we follow him, we have to go through the narrow gate, meaning, we need to put up with discomforts which are inevitable due to the presence of evil, but we are sure that heaven waits at the end.

Lord Jesus, we want to CHOOSE YOU always!
