Isinusulong ng Caritas Manila Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) ang pagkakaroon ng mga susunod na lider sa lipunan na handang makinig at tugunan ang hinaing ng mga mahihirap.
Ito ang tiniyak ni Father Anton CT Pascual – Executive Director ng Caritas Manila at Pangulo ng Radio Veritas sa patuloy na pagpapalawig sa YSLEP na flagship program ng Social Arm ng Archdiocese of Manila.
Ayon sa Pari, adbokasiya ng social arm na gamitin ang edukasyon na mabisang panlaban sa kahirapan dahil narin napapabuti ng mahihirap na estudyante ang estado ng kanilang pamumuhay sa oras na makapagtapos sa pag-aaral.
“The social impact that we would like to see in the future, God Willing is that the future leaders, the future servant leaders will come from the ranks of the poor and precisely, and hopefully our graduates will respond to the need of developing young leader in the position in the government and in the society and we hope that it will come from our graduates,” bahagi ng mensahe ni Fr.Pascual.
Iginiit ng Pari na hindi lamang nakatuon sa pagbibigay ng financial aid ang scholarship program, kasabay nito ang mga training at formation program na nagtuturo sa mga YSLEP Scholars na maging servant leaders ng simbahan.
Nagagalak din ang Caritas Manila dahil hindi lamang sa Metro Manila ang programa at hindi ito eksklusibo sa mga katolikong mag-aaral,sa halip, naabot na ng YSLEP ang ibat-ibang bahagi ng Pilipinas kung saan mayroon ng mga Muslim at Katutubong estudyante ang nakapagtapos ng kolehiyo.
“It is not just an ordinary scholarship program it is actually a leadership formation program, and not just leadership, but servant leadership, each scholar is not just expected to graduate and earn a living but is expected to serve and give back of being servant in their communities,” bahagi pa ng mensahe ng Caritas Manila.
Para sa School Year 2024-2025, umabot na sa 4,500 ang YSLEP -scholars mula sa 142-parokya, institusyon at partners sa 53-diyosesis sa bansa.
Noong school year 2023-2024 ay umabot sa 4,446 ang mga YSLEP scholar kung saan 1,178 ang nakapagtapos ng pag-aaral kabilang ang 4-Summa Cum Laude, 29=Magna Cum Laude, 54-Cum Laude, 45-Academic Excellence, 41-Dean’s List at 48-Special Awardees.
