Ibinahagi ni Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber ang balita ng pagpanaw ng punong pastol ng Simbahang Katolika ganap na alas-nuebe kwarentay-singko ng umaga ngayong araw oras sa Roma.
Ayon sa Cardinal, pumanaw si Pope Francis sa kanyang residencia sa Casa Santa Marta sa Vatican ganap na alas-syete trentay-singko ng umaga oras sa Roma -na ala-una trentay-singko ng hapon oras sa Pilipinas.
“At 9:45 AM, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber, announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta with these words:
“Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God.””
Matatandaang 38-araw na nanatili si Pope Francis sa Agostino Gemelli University Polyclinic sa Roma matapos na maospital noong ika-14 ng Pebrero, 2025 dahil sa bronchitis na kalaunan ay natukoy bilang bilateral pneumonia.
Sa pagamutan na rin ginunita ni Pope Francis ang kanyang ika-12 taong anibersaryo ng pagiging Santo Papa.
Matatandaang personal na bumisita si Pope Francis sa Pilipinas noong Enero 15-19, 2015 upang maipadama sa mga Pilipino ang pakikiisa at presensya ng Panginoon lalo na sa mga nasalanta ng Bagyong Yolanda (Haiyan) noong 2013.
Si Pope Francis, ay tinawag ng mga mananampalatayang Pilipino ni Lolo Kiko.
