ONE LIFE
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets.“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.”

The wide gate and the broad road are often preferred by many because they are easy to enter and easy to travel. There are few restrictions, few rules to follow, and little sacrifice required. They offer convenience, comfort, and the illusion of complete freedom.
In contrast, Jesus describes the gate that leads to life as narrow and the road as constricted. It is a path that demands commitment, discipline, and perseverance.
To follow Jesus is to enter through the narrow gate and walk the constricted road. There are commandments to obey, sacrifices to make, and acts of love that require us to deny ourselves. Yet this is the path that leads to true life. God, who is the author and giver of life, alone knows how life is meant to be lived. And it was his Son, who became man, who showed us the way by his words, example, death, and resurrection.
We have only ONE LIFE to live. The days that have passed are gone forever and cannot be brought back. What matters is how we live the present moment and the time that still lies before us. As long as we are alive, there is always an opportunity to repent, to grow, and to change for the better.
Lord Jesus, may we be among those who find the narrow gate and faithfully walk the constricted road that leads to life. Grant us the courage to choose your way over the easy path and to remain steadfast until the end!
