Itinuring na magandang bunga ng Year of St. Joseph ang pagkakatatag ng Men of St. Joseph Philippines (MOSJ-P).
Ito ang mensahe ni Father Erwin Mendoza, OSJ, ang itinalagang priest-in-charge ng MOSJ-P kasabay ng paglunsad ng samahan noong December 8.
Ayon sa Pari, ito rin ay tugon sa panawagan ng Kanyang Kabanalan Francisco na gawing huwaran si San Jose bilang mabuting ama at may mababang loob na sumunod sa kalooban ng Panginoon.
“This is one of the concrete and visible fruits of the Year of St. Joseph; a response to the call of Pope Francis as contained in his Apostolic Letter – Patris Corde, encouraging us to reflect upon the role of St. Joseph in caring and loving our Savior – with a Father’s heart,” pahayag ni Fr. Mendoza sa Radio Veritas.
Kasabay ng Dakilang Kapistahan ng Paglilihi kay Maria, itinalaga ang bawat pamilya sa Pilipinas sa pangangalaga ng Mahal na Birhen at kay San Jose.
Ginawa ang national consecration sa San Roque Cathedral ng Diocese of Kalookan sa pangunguna ni Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President, Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David kasama ang ilang pamilya na nanguna sa pagdarasal ng Santo Rosaryo.
Sinundan naman ito ng opisyal na paglunsad ng Men of St. Joseph logo na ipinaliwanag ni Fr. Mendoza.
Ang Oblates of St. Joseph na kinabibilangan ni Fr. Mendoza ang inatasan ng CBCP sa pangangasiwa sa Samahan ng mga kalalakihan para kay San Jose sapagkat nakabatay din sa spirituality ng kongregasyon ang layunin ng MOSJ-P.
Ilan sa mga layunin ng grupo ang pagpapalalim sa pananampalataya kay Jesus sa tulong Espiritu Santo at debosyon kay San Jose, himukin ang bawat isa na hingin ang tulong ni San Jose laban sa anumang kasamaan, pagkakataong hubugin ang kalalakihan sa mga gawi at halimbawa ni San Jose, isulong ang dignidad ng paggawa, at ipalaganap ang pagmimisyon at pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng simbahan sa pamamagitan ng corporal at spiritual works of mercy.
Narito naman ang ilan sa mga nararapat gawin ng mga magiging kasapi ng MOSJ-P:
MOSJ Members’ commitments (min. 72 hours per year) are express through:
1. Daily Prayer to St. Joseph
2. Monthly meetings (2 hours each)
3. Yearly conference on St. Joseph to build national unity and propagate the MOSJ -P through a yearly conference (6 hours), and
4. Yearly retreat to deepen our commitment to the Lord and His Church, and promote deeper devotion among the members to St. Joseph (42 hours).
The Men of St. Joseph encourages its members to:
1) A life of daily personal prayer
2) A deeper realization of the personal love of God the Father,
3) A personal relationship and commitment to Jesus as Lord,
4) An experience of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit and openness to all His gifts,
5) A frequent participation in the sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation,
6) A regular study and daily reading of the Word of God,
7) A marked faithfulness to one’s roles and responsibilities in life, within the family, the workplace and to society.
8)A deep love for and loyalty to the Catholic Church, the pope and their local bishops.
The movement is now open to all men in the parishes who wish to be consecrated to St. Joseph and become an active member.
