Ito ang naging reaksiyon ni Fr. Ranhilio Aquino, Dean ng Graduate School of Law ng San Beda University, matapos desisyunan ng Senado na i-archive o isantabi ang mga artikulo ng impeachment laban kay Bise Presidente Sara Duterte.
Bagamat hindi na siya nagulat sa naging pasya ng Senado, hindi maikakaila ng pari ang kanyang pagkadismaya—lalo na sa paraan ng kanilang pagbibigay-katuwiran.
“In the first place, the Senate claims that they are obeying the Supreme Court, but the irony there is that there is a pending motion for consideration in the Supreme Court. And in voting to archive the cases, they were in fact jumping the gun on the Supreme Court,” paliwanag ni Fr. Aquino.
Iginiit ng Pari na kung tunay na sinsero ang Senado sa pagsunod sa Korte Suprema, nararapat lamang na hinintay muna nila ang pinal na desisyon ng hukuman.

Hindi rin pinalampas ni Fr. Aquino ang tila pagpuna ni Senate President Francis Escudero sa mga kilalang dating mahistrado na nagpahayag ng suporta sa impeachment case. Sa isang matapang na social media post, direkta niyang kinuwestyon ang karapatan ni Escudero na maliitin ang mga iginagalang na personalidad sa larangan ng batas.
“How dare someone who does not understand ‘forthwith’ slam illustrious jurists with whom he CERTAINLY is not in league? Azcuna, Puno, Panganiban, Carpio-Morales, and Carpio? How, Mr. Escudero, do you reckon you can match them?”
Matatandaang ang mga nabanggit na pangalan ay pawang dating mahistrado at kilalang tagapagtanggol ng Saligang Batas, na nagpahayag ng suporta sa paghahanap ng katotohanan kaugnay ng usapin sa confidential funds.
Sa kabila ng tila pagsasara ng pinto ng Senado, nanawagan si Fr. Aquino sa publiko na ipagpatuloy ang panawagan para sa pananagutan.
“The only thing for people to do is to press the House of Representatives to file the impeachment complaint at the time the Supreme Court says it’s proper to do so,” sabi ni Fr. Aquino.
Bilang tagapagtaguyod ng due process, iminungkahi rin ni Fr. Aquino ang ilang hakbang upang masusing imbestigahan ang mga alegasyon:
Pagbuo ng joint congressional committee
“The Congress can constitute a joint committee of the members of the House and the Senate to receive evidence of the misuse of confidential funds and to give the Vice President a chance to present her evidence.”
Paglikha ng fact-finding commission mula sa Pangulo
“The President can constitute a fact-finding commission composed of credible persons who will look into the factual allegations against the Vice President.”
Pag-imbestiga ng Ombudsman
“The Office of the Ombudsman can use its power to conduct an investigation and prepare an impeachment complaint.”
Hindi na ikinagulat ni Rev. Fr. Jerome Secillano, parish Priest ng national shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, Edsa Shrine at Executive secretary ng CBCP-Permanent Council on Public Affairs ang naging hatol ng mga Senador sa inihaing impeachment complaint ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso kay VP Duterte sa kasong betrayal of public trust at graft and corruption.
Ayon kay Fr. Secillano, sa simula pa lamang ay wala ng bigat ang public opinion sa impeachment case ni VP Duterte.

Sa halip na madismaya at magalit sa pagka-archive ng impeachment case laban kay VP Duterte, ipinaubaya na ng Pari ang kapalaran ng pangalawang pangulo sa 2028 presidential election sa kamay ng mga Pilipino.

Sa kasalukuyan, nakabinbin pa sa Korte Suprema ang Motion for Reconsideration na inihain ng Mababang Kapulungan, na layong ipawalang-bisa ang naunang desisyon ng hukuman na nagdeklara sa articles of impeachment bilang unconstitutional.
