Hinamon ng Bible Apostolate Ministry ng simbahan ang mga mananampalataya na gawing makabuluhan ang buhay sa pamamagitan ng pagbabasa at pag-unawa sa mga salita ng Diyos.
Ayon kay Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Biblical Apostolate chairman, Laoag Bishop Renato Mayugba, ang pakikinig, pagtanggap, at pagsasabuhay sa mga aral mula sa salita ng Diyos ay pagpapakita ng kahandaan upang tunay na makamtan ang kaganapan ng buhay.
Pinangunahan ni Bishop Mayugba ang Banal na Misa sa Christ the King Mission Seminary Gym sa Quezon City bilang bahagi ng City on A Hill Bible Festival 3 ng Diocese of Cubao Biblical Apostolate kasabay ng paggunita sa National Bible Month.
“We celebrate this Bible month; therefore, we celebrate the living word of God to assure us that indeed, there will always be new life for those who listen to the word of God, receive the word of God in their hearts, and live according to the divine word,” bahagi ng pagninilay ni Bishop Mayugba.
Hinikayat din ng obispo ang mga mananampalataya na sikaping dumalo at makibahagi sa mga Banal na Misa sapagkat ito’y pagkakataon upang madama ang Panginoong Hesus na ang hatid ay kaligtasan at bagong pag-asa para sa lahat.
“Once fed with our minds and our thoughts with the Word of God, and fed with the bread–the body and blood of Christ, we will have the courage, the energy, the wisdom to face, go back to the world, face our challenges, our trials, our tragedies; and we will not allow ourselves to be defeated by them because we do know that even the Lord, who was crucified rose from the dead… will have the strength to face all the trials and tragedies that this world can give,” ayon kay Bishop Mayugba.
Simula 1982 ay ginugunita tuwing ikatlong linggo ng Enero ang National Bible Sunday, hindi lamang ng mga Katoliko kun’di maging ng mga Protestante.
Taong 2017 naman nang ideklara ang buwan ng Enero bilang ‘National Bible Month’ sa bisa ng Presidential Proclamation No. 124 na nilagdaan ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
