Radio Veritas is inviting the public to venerate the first class relics “ex ossibus” (from the bones) of Saints Joachim and Anne from the Work of Saints Apostle from July 17 to 25, and celebration of its feast on July 26, 2017.
Devotees seeking healing and other petitions may venerate the relics of Saints Joachim and Anne through the Holy Rosary at 11:30am and novena at 11:45am at the Veritas Chapel in Quezon City.
Saints Joachim and Anne are the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to tradition, Saint Anne was born in Bethlehem, and married to Joachim of Nazareth, both descendants of David. Together they raised Mary to be a paragon of virtue and entrusted her to the temple as a child.
The feast of Saints Joachim and Anne is also considered as the “feast of grandparents.” It reminds grandparents of their responsibility to establish a tone for generations to come: They must make the traditions live and offer them as a promise to little children. The feast has a message for the younger generation as well as reminds the young that older people’s greater perspective, depth of experience, and appreciation of life’s profound rhythms are all part of wisdom not to be taken lightly or ignored.
