Umaapela ang kanyang Kabunyian Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle sa mananampalataya na makiisa sa “Fast to Feed” program sa nalalapit na kuwaresma.
Ayon sa Cardinal Tagle, ang Hapag-asa program ng Archdiocese of Manila ay kumakalinga at tumutugon sa pangangailangan ng may 20-libong mga malnourished at nagugutom na bata sa mga lansangan at sa mga parokya ng Arkidiyosesis.
Nanawagan ang Kardinal na tulungan at ipadama sa mga batang kapuspalad ang tunay na pagkalinga.
“In this season of Lent we are especially called to imitate the generosity of God, particularly towards the poor and the disadvantaged. Indeed, “mercy demands that we not simply stand by and do nothing. Those who are weak and vulnerable ought to feel the presence of brothers and sisters who can help them in their need.” (Misericordia eu misera 19 21). Together, let us help these children. Together, let us make a difference in their lives,”panawagan ni Cardinal Tagle.
Inihayag ni Cardinal Tagle na mula sa halagang 1,200 pesos sa loob ng anim na buwan o sampung piso kada araw ay naibabalik na ng “fast to feed program” ang maayos at malusog na pangangatawan ng mga mahihirap na bata.
“For many years now, Pondo ng Pinoy’s Hapag-Asa program has been addressing the problem of hunger and malnutrition in our country. Together with its partners, Hapag-Asa has been helping malnourished children through supplemental feeding and early childhood education. It has also been helping the children’s parents through values education, and livelihood and skills training. This year Pondo ng Pinoy is once again launching the FAST2FEED campaign to help raise funds to be used by the Hapag-Asa program for feeding at least 20,000 hungry and malnourished children belonging to Pondo ng Pinoy member-dioceses,” pahayag ni Cardinal Tagle.
Inihayag ni Cardinal Tagle sa kanyang liham pastoral na simula Ash Wednesday at sa buong panahon ng kawaresma ay pinaalalahanan tayo na gayahin ang pagiging mapagbigay ni Hesus lalu na sa mahihirap.
“Once again, we humbly ask you to help us in this undertaking. We appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, to support FAST2FEED 2017 of Pondo ng Pinoy’s Hapag-Asa program. It only takes Php 200.00 for six months or Php 10.00 per day to bring back a hungry and undernourished child to a healthy state,”panawagan ng Kardinal.
Inaanyayahan din ni Cardinal Tagle ang lahat na sa panahon ng kuwaresma na magdasal, magsakripisyo, mag-ayuno at gumawa ng kabutihan sa kapwa.
“We are called to return to God, who opens His arms to us, by doing acts of sacrifice: namely, to pray, to fast, and to perform acts of charity,” pahayag ni Cardinal Tagle.

Ang Pondo ng Pinoy ay sinimulan ng kanyang Kabunyian Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales noong taong 2005 at mahigit sa 1-milyong mga malnourished na bata ang pinagsisilbihan ng programa.
