Ipagdiriwang ng Caritas Manila-social action arm ng Archdiocese of Manila ang ika – 65 anibersaryo ng paghahatid ng serbisyo sa mga mananampalataya.
Tema ng pagdiriwang ang “SERVANT LEADERSHIP FOR THE CHURCH OF THE POOR” kung saan kasabay ng pagdiriwang ang pagtatalaga sa mga volunteers ng Caritas Manila sa iba’t ibang diyosesis na sakop ng eclesiastical province ng Archdiocese of Manila upang higit mapagtibay ang paglilingkod sa mga mahihirap.
“Aside from celebrating our 65 years in service, we would also like to express in this event our sincere gratitude for all of our volunteers and employees who continuously give their time and full support to us by giving them our Volunteer Servant Leadership Awards and Caritas Manila Service Awards in return.” pahayag ni Fr. Anton CT Pascual.
Bukod sa Grand Commissioning ng Caritas Manila Volunteers, ilulunsad din ang “Plant-based Diet” Campaign para sa mabuting kalusugan ng mamamayan sa pamamagitan ng pagkain ng gulay na inaadbokasiya ng Caritas Manila.
“We are extending our effort to promote our ‘Plant-based Diet’ through this event because we would like to raise awareness about climate change and the spreading of various diseases. This campaign also aims to strengthen our Christian faith by means of sacrificing for God.” dagdag ng Pari.
Magbabahagi naman ng mensahe si Ginang Teresita Rungduin, Ph. D, isa sa mga guro ng College of Graduate Studies and Teacher Education Research ng Philippine Normal University kaugnay sa pagiging lingkod ng Simbahang Katolika na kumakalinga sa mga mahihirap at ang talumpati na ihahatid ni Rev. Fr. Anton CT Pascual, executive director ng Caritas Manila Incorporated.
Pamumunuan ni Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, vice president ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines ang Banal na Misa at pagtatalaga sa mga volunteers ng Social Services and Development Ministry.
Gaganapin ang pagdiriwang bukas, ika – 13 ng Oktubre sa Cuneta Astrodome Pasay City mula ika – 11 ng umaga hanggang ika – 7 ng gabi.
Ang Caritas Manila ay itinatag ni Cardinal Rufino Santos ang namuno sa Archdiocese of Manila noong ika – 1 ng Oktubre 1953 na layong iangat ang pamumuhay ispiritwal ng mga nangangailangan ng tulong sa lipunan.
