Radio Veritas is inviting the faithful to take part in the First Friday Holy Hour devotion and confession on October 7, 2016 at the Our Lady of Veritas Chapel in Quezon City.

Rev. Fr. Wilmer Samillano, SCHP will preside the first Friday Holy Hour devotion and confession from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

In his Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy Misericordiae Vultus, His Holiness Pope Francis invited the faithful to the sacrament of Reconciliation to discover God’s mercy and extend forgiveness to others.

“Let us place the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the centre once more in such a way that it will enable people to touch the grandeur of God’s mercy with their own hands,” Pope Francis said.

The First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is based on a promise made by our Lord Jesus Christ during an apparition to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 17th century.

“In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.”

The devotion consists of several practices that are performed on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months. On these days, a person is to attend Holy Mass and receive communion. In many Catholic communities the practice of the Holy Hour of meditation during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during the First Fridays is encouraged.

Radio Veritas 846, the number one faith-based Radio in the Philippines, is owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Manila. Established in 1969, the Ramon Magsaysay recipient Catholic radio station continues to be the leading social communications ministry for truth and new evangelization in the country today.
