Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based AM radio station in the Philippines, will air a special programming on May 9 and 10, 2016 for the synchronized national and local elections.
Simbahan at Halalan, the 2016 Election coverage of Radio Veritas will start at 6:00 am with Jing Manipol Lanzona and Fr. Nono Alfonso. They will feature interviews with Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) volunteers about their preparations for the election.
Hourly updates from Philippine National Police (PNP), Commission on National Elections (COMELEC), Bishops and Social Action Center (SAC) directors of different dioceses, especially from election hot spots and areas with least number of reported election related crimes will also be aired.
Bantay Karapatan sa Halalan 2016 (BKH 2016) will also be reporting election-related incidents, while situation from different precincts and partial polling results from PPCRV headquarters will be reported by the Veritas Advocates and Ronda team.
Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) and National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will also give updates on the power supply to ensure “black-out free” elections on May 9.
From 9:00 am to 12:00 nn, Fr. Soy Hernando and Miss Angelique Lazo will continue the election coverage and will focus on the problems that might arise during election day with political analysts and lawyers as guests.
The Eucharistic Celebration at 12:15 nn will be intended for the voters and candidates for for Truthful, Responsible, Upright, Transparent and Honest (T.R.U.T.H) Elections.
Bernard Cańaberal and Fr. Dars Cabral will sit as anchors from 1:00 pm to 4: 00 pm. They will feature interviews with PPCRV volunteers about the common problem of voters such as machine validation and other election related problems.
Dealing with voter complaints, counting and transmission of votes will be shared by some of the PPCRV volunteers with Dennis “Ka Dune” Geron from 4: 00 pm to 6: 00 pm.
Fr. Jerome Secillano will continue the election coverage from 6: 00pm to 9: 00 pm. He will interview PPCRV volunteers about common problems during election such as power failure and signal interruptions that may hamper the transmission of the votes.
On May 10, the special election coverage continues with updates on vote counting and announcement of the official results from PPCRV headquarters. How will the Church cooperate with the new government official and the healing process for the losing candidates will also be discussed.
All throughout May 9 to 10, news reports and updates related the 2016 national and local elections will also be heard from Radio Veritas.
