Veritas Pilipinas is a news magazine program that features Church advocacies, as well as morality and pressing political matters. It airs from 6am to 8am during weekdays, and is anchored by Ms. Penelope Lanzona, Fr. Emmanuel Alfonso of Jesuit Communications, and Msgr. Pedro Quitorio of Areopagus Communications.
Organized by the Mass Communication Department of St. Scholastica’s College-Manila, the Hildegarde Award gives accolade to outstanding women in media and communication, as well as in advertising, print, and broadcast journalism and development communication.
The award was named after St. Saint Hildegard and Sibyl of the Rhine, a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, visionary, and polymath. She is considered to be the founder of scientific natural history in Germany.
St. Scholastica’s College Manila is a Catholic institution for women established in 1906 and managed by the Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing. The school offers basic education as well as four- and five-year tertiary education, and was recently recognized in 2013 as a Center for Excellence in Music Education by the Commission on Higher Education.
The awarding ceremony coincided with the celebration of International Women’s Day, with the theme: “Celebrating Women of Peace and Unity.”
Veritas846 is continuously recognized in the industry for its persistence in fulfilling its mission of spreading the truth and evangelization through its radio programs.
Veritas846 was also one of the recipients of the very first SLB Kaisa ng Bayan Award by the Jesuit socio-political group Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan during their 30th anniversary celebration last February 24, 2016.
The SLB Awards recognizes people, places and projects with advocacies that embody the core values of the organization, namely, faith that does justice, genuine democracy, love for country, preferential option for the poor, and stewardship of creation.
Students and professors from the Trinity University of Asia also chose Veritas 846 as the winner of the Trinitian Award for Values-Oriented Radio Station for the 2016 Platinum Stallion Media Awards given last February 3, 2016.
Organized by TUA’s Department of Media and Communication, the Platinum Stallion Award gives accolade to media practitioners and institution in the field of broadcasting, film, print, advertising, visual arts and other communication-related industries. Awardees are chosen by a university-wide survey participated in by students, faculty and staff.
For its crucial role during the EDSA People Power Revolution of 1986, Radio Veritas received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts. The Ramon Magsaysay Award Board of Trustees recognized Radio Veritas’ significant participation in using the truth to depose an oppressive and corrupt regime and restore the Filipino faith in the electoral process.
