In the second “Veritas Servant Leadership Halalan Forum 2016”, Atty. Christian Monsod, former Chairman of the Philippine Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and member of the 1986 Constitutional Commission and Archbishop Oscar Cruz, D.D., archbishop emeritus of Lingayen-Dagupan and former President of the CBCP both advised the electorates not to vote candidates with corruption and political dynasty issues, because they do not know how to empathize.

“Empathy without action is futility… it is hypocrisy,” Archbishop Oscar Cruz, D.D., said in an interview with Radio Veritas. The Archbishop said that a political leader who really empathizes with the people should not only express his empathy through words but through deeds.

He also expressed his disappointment with the campaigns of the candidates for the coming national elections on May.

Archbishop Cruz stressed.

For his part, Atty. Christian Monsod suggested that radical change is what our society needs in the present and we can attain that change if we do not vote for the self-centered and apathetic candidates who have corruption and political dynasty issues.

“We have to start something today and we can start in the next elections. Umpisahan natin ang radical reform. Do not vote for any corrupt person,” Atty. Monsod said.

He also added that the radical change that we need means that we need new generation of leaders, who are empathetic and know how it is to be poor.

“Radical change means we need a new generation of leaders, who knows how it is to be poor … I don’t think na magkakaroon tayo ng radical change with our social order hangga’t ang ating leaders know how it is to be poor. “Atty. Munsod added.
