Caritas Manila and Veritas 846 Radio Totoo appeal for prayers for Divine protection and to extend our help through our donations in cash and in kind for the relief and rehabilitation needs of our kababayans in the Northern Luzon who are in grave threat due to Super Typhoon Lawin.

Based from the data of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) as of October 19, 2016, 2:00pm, super typhoon Lawin packs maximum sustained winds of 225 kph near the center, and its gustiness at 315 kph. It is now 300 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, moving west northwest at 24 kph.

Archdiocese of Tuguegarao, Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk, Diocese of Ilagan, Diocese of Bayombong, Diocese of Laoag, Diocese of Bangued, Apostolic Vicariate of Bontoc-Lagawe, Prelature of Batanes, are among the areas that will be greatly affected by the super typhoon.

Caritas Damayan is one of the programs of Caritas Manila, the social development ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila. Through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program, Caritas Manila has put in place a disaster management program that allows for quick response relief operation and effective crisis intervention.
