Umapela sa mga Pilipino ang Church People Workers Solidarity (CWS) sa pamumuno ni San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza na magkaisa at manindigan laban sa katiwalian.
Ayon sa CWS, ang malawakang katiwalian sa flood control projects ng pamahalaan ay pagnanakaw sa kabuhayan ng mga manggagawa at nalalagay sa panganib ang buhay ng mamamayan dahil sa malawakang pagbaha.
Hinikayat din ng CWS ang mamamayan na manindigan at magkaisa upang maparusahan ang mga nasa likod ng sistematikong korapsyon na kinasasangkutan ng mga mambabatas, kaanak na kontraktor at mga tiwaling opisyal ng DPWH.
“Church People, Workers, and the Poor: One Voice for Accountability, End Corruption Now! The Church People-Workers Solida0ity, together with workers and communities of the poor, calls on all Filipinos to take a stand against the rampant corruption in flood-control projects across the Philippines. Instead of safeguarding lives, systemic corruption has turned these projects into sources of profit for a few, leaving millions vulnerable to devastating floods. It also robs our workers of their livelihood, forcing them to wade through lost wages and ruined homes while officials are swimming in a sea of stolen people’s money. As Scripture reminds us: “The wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you” (James 5:4),” ayon sa mensahe ng CWS na pinadala sa Radyo Veritas.
Nanawagan din ang CWS kay PBBM na panagutin sa batas ang mga sangkot sa katiwalian upang matigil na ang korapsyon.
Nananawagan ang CWS sa taumbayan na gamitin ang galit sa pamamagitan ng pag-organisa ng mga pagkilos at pananawagan ng maayos na pamamahala sa mga lider ng bansa.
Hinihikayat ng CWS ang mga Parokya, labor groups at komunidad na manindigan at kumilos para sa mga hindi makapagsalita at ipagtanggol ang karapatan ng mga taong nangangailangan.
“Together, let us transform righteous anger into effective action. We call on parishes, labor groups, and poor communities to pray, organize, and demand just governance. As Proverbs 31:8–9 commands: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves… defend the rights of the poor and needy.” In this spirit, we invite the faithful, workers, and concerned citizens to join protest actions demanding accountability, restitution, prosecution, and an end to corruption. Enough is enough—we must stand with the poor and the oppressed!,” ayon pa sa mensahe ng CWS.
