Pinayuhan ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Pastoral Care for Migrant and Itinerant People ang mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) sa China na iwasan ang pakikipag – diskusyon ukol sa inilabas na desisyon ng Permanent Court of Arbitration ng The Hague, Netherlands sa usapin ng pinag – aagawang teritoryo.
Sa advisory ni Balanga, Bataan Bishop Ruperto Santos, chairman ng komisyon, pinag – iingat nito ang Pinoy sa China sa mga “personal threats” at iwasan ang mga debate kaugnay sa inilabas na desisyon ng tribunal.
Pinapayuhan din ni Bishop Santos ang mga Filipino sa China na iwasan ang mga pagtitipon at ang pag-uusap tungkol sa mga political issues lalo na sa social media.
“We accept and we received the decision with gratitude to God. And so we appeal that we should be magnanimous that we should not brag about it let us accept everything with humility and with appreciation but we don’t boast about it. We advise our OFWs to maintain what they are doing that they are responsible, respectful that they are quiet and there is no need for open debate and discussion,” bahagi ng pahayag ni Bishop Santos sa panayam ng Veritas Patrol.
Lumabas naman sa survey ng Social Weather Station o SWS noong 2013 na siyam sa sampung Pilipino ang sumusuporta sa paghain ng kasong arbitrasyon laban sa Tsina.
Nauna na ring hinimok ng Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines o CBCP ang mamamayan na magdasal ng ‘Oratio Imperata’ o Obligatory Prayer kaugnay ng krisis na kinakaharap ng Pilipinas sa West Philippines Sea.
