Radio Veritas 846, the leading faith-based am radio station in the Philippines will simulcast the second “PILIPinas” Presidential Debates 2016” on March 20, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
As part of voter education for the May 9, 2016 national elections, the second leg of the presidential debate will be held at the Performing Arts Hall at the University of the Philippines campus in Cebu City. This debate will be an hour longer compared to the first debate held last February 21, 2016. The candidates will be asked to discuss their positions and platforms on climate change and disaster preparedness, education, women’s rights, and health.
“PiliPinas Debates 2016” is a debate series administered by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). It is co-organized by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), which in turn mandated all its member radio stations to conduct simultaneous airing of the debates.
“PiliPinas Debates 2016” is the first COMELEC-initiated debate since the 1992 national elections. In January 2016, COMELEC announced that they would hold three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate.
The first leg of the debate was held last February 21 at the Mini-Theater Building of the Capitol University in Cagayan de Oro.
The third and final presidential debate will be held in Luzon on April 24 and the only vice presidential debate will be conducted on April 10 in Metro Manila.
