The Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Shrine in Kamuning, has produced and launched its two new important books on September 30, 2017 at the Arnold Janssen Hall in Sacred Heart, Quezon City.

The books are entitled “Shepherding a Parish: Collaboration in an SVD Mission, Sacred Heart Parish Shrine Kamuning”, authored by Fr. Michael Layugan, SVD, PhD. and “Sa Puso ng Lumang Tipan 3”, by Dr. Josephine “Jojo” Lumitao, M.D.

The Philippine Central Province of the Society of the Divine Word Vice-Provincial Superior and Parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Shrine Rev Fr. Jerome Marquez, SVD (from left to right) led the launching along with authors, Dr. Lumitao, M.D. and Rev. Fr. Layugan, SVD, PhD.

“It is with much joy that our church launches these books, still in celebration of our 75th year as a parish in this very dynamic community of the faithful,” Fr. Marquez said.

Rev Fr. Michael Layugan is the provincial ad monitor of the SVD Central Province. He is a scholar in SVD history who earned his doctorate on Sacred Theology from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. This latest book which he authored chronicles the journey of the 75-year-old parish to shrine status.

Dr. Jojo Lumitao, though a doctor of medicine and a professor of medical ethics at the University of Santo Tomas, is an active formation ministry leader in the parish. The book is the third in the series of “Sa Puso ng Lumang Tipan”.

The Sacred Heart Parish Shrine was established on October 3, 1941, making it the first parish in Quezon City. The parish has been in the pastoral care and administration of the Society of the Divine Word since even before its founding.

For inquiries regarding the books you may contact the Parish’secretariat headed Ms. Cora Zabala through email address [email protected] or call 9290419.
