Idineklara ng Diocese of Borongan ang ika-20 ng Hulyo, 2021 bilang Diocesan Day of Prayer and Fasting for Deliverance from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Ayon kay Borongan Bishop Crispin Varquez, sa gitna ng pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 partikular na sa probinsya ay higit na dapat manalangin at manalig ang bawat isa sa pangakong kaligtasan ng Panginoon.
“Our current situation now – when many lives have been lost and many continue to suffer because of the Covid-19 pandemic – calls us as a Church to express our faith more earnestly through ardent prayers and sacrifice. The rise of the Covid-19 cases recently in our province is very alarming.” Ang bahagi ng anunsyo ni Bishop Varquez.
Sinabi ng Obispo na mahalaga ang pakikibahagi ng bawat Katoliko sa buong diyosesis sa ika-20 ng Hulyo na idineklara bilang “Adlaw hin Pag-ampo ug Pagpuasa”.
Inaanyayahan ang bawat isa na sama-samang mag-alay ng panalangin at mag-ayuno upang higit na maipaabot sa Panginoon ang pagsusumamo na mawakasan na ang COVID-19 pandemic.
Bukod sa pagsasagawa ng simultaneous Holy Hour at Holy Mass sa lahat ng mga parokya sa buong diyosesis, pangungunahan rin ni Bishop Varquez ang Penitential Walk ng mga Pari sa Borongan at pagdarasal ng Santo Rosaryo mula Borongan Cathedral hanggang sa Chaplaincy of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal sa Sabang, Borongan.
“I, therefore, declare July 20, 2021 as “Adlaw hin Pag-ampo ug Pagpuasa.” I admonish all Catholics in our diocese to offer this day for prayer and fasting. Let us ask God for deliverance from this pandemic. In the whole diocese, let there be simultaneous celebrations of the Holy Hour and Holy Mass. Meanwhile, together with some priests in Borongan, I will hold a Penitential Walk and Recitation of the Holy Rosary from the Borongan Cathedral to the Chaplaincy of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Sabang, Borongan.” Dagdag pa ni Bishop Varquez.
Pagbabahagi ng Obispo, bukod sa pananalangin para sa kaligtasan ng lahat at tuluyang mawakasan ang pandemya ay mahalaga rin ang pag-aayuno bilang pakikibahagi sa lahat ng mga nawalan ng mahal sa buhay at nagdurusa dahil sa malawak na krisis na dulot ng COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our fasting from food will be our expression of solidarity with those who lost their loved ones and those who continue to suffer due to the disease and the quarantine restrictions. It will also be our expression of prayer for the safety of all our frontliners.” Ayon pa kay Bishop Varquez.
Umaasa rin ang Obispo na makatulong ang nakatakdang Diocesan Day of Prayer and Fasting for Deliverance from the COVID-19 Pandemic sa diyosesis upang magkaroon ng pag-asa at lakas ng loob ang bawat isa na harapin ang krisis.
Matatandang una ng nagsagawa ng Day of Prayer, Fasting and Penitential Service ang Archdiocese of Manila noong June 1, 2021 bilang patuloy na paghingi ng gabay sa Panginoon mula sa iba’t ibang hamong kinakaharap ng lipunan.
