Radio Veritas, the leading faith-based AM Radio Station in the Philippines will have a special programming on March 22 and 23, 2016 for the commemoration of Holy Week 2016.
Veritas846 will start its special programming on Holy Monday with the Alay Kapwa Telethon from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The whole day campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for Caritas Damayan (Preventive Health and Disaster Management Program). Alay Kapwa is the Lenten evangelization and fundraising program of the Catholic Church in the Philippines through Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-National Secretariat for Social Action (CBCP-NASSA) to raise consciousness and funds for calamities and major social concerns.
On Holy Tuesday, March 22, 2016, Veritas 846 will broadcast of the Station of the Cross at 6: 00 AM within the news and public affairs program, “Veritas Pilipinas”. “Barangay Simbayan” anchor Rev. Fr. Nick Lalog will give a reflection on the Holy week from 9: 00 AM to 11: 00 AM. In the evening, “Ang Diyosesis” anchor Rev. Fr. Dars Cabral will talk about mercy and almsgiving on the religious program, “Hello Father 911” from 9:15 PM up until 11:00 PM.
On Holy Wednesday, March 23, “Veritas Pilipinas” will again air the Station of the Cross. Meanwhile, in lieu of the daily magazine program “Pamilya mo, Pamilya ko” from 9: 00 AM to 11: 00 AM, Veritas846 will be the airing a special with Bro. John and Sis. Fel Castriciones. The couple will talk about the preparation of the family for the Holy week. From 9:15 PM to 11: 00 pm, Rev. Fr. Dars Cabral will talk about mercy and compassion in Hello Father 911.
Holy Week is the week just before Easter including Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday (Spy Wednesday), Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday), Good Friday (Holy Friday), and Black Saturday. During the Holy Week, Christians commemorate the Passion and death of Jesus Christ, who died on Good Friday in reparation for the sins of mankind, and resurrected on Easter Sunday to give new life to all who believe. During these days, people do the acts of fasting, abstinence and prayer.
